Restaurant La Carcasse

Restaurant renovation

The project involved transforming an aging restaurant space to accommodate an established steakhouse brand. The intervention sought to refresh the existing identity through a brighter and more contemporary expression while preserving the bold character long associated with the restaurant.

Located within a bicentennial building, the project presented several technical and architectural challenges. The exposed timber structure, existing ceilings that required preservation, and the irregular geometry of the space demanded a rigorous and carefully considered approach. Lighting also became a central component of the design strategy, as the project aimed to highlight the original materials while introducing greater brightness throughout the interior. The presence of a central brick fireplace, along with the need to maintain the existing seating capacity, also played a significant role in shaping the final layout.

The spatial organization and visual identity were redeveloped through a cohesive approach inspired by the restaurant’s existing character, reinterpreted in a more contemporary architectural language. Industrial accents — particularly through the integration of steel — punctuate the space and reinforce the distinctive atmosphere of the restaurant.
